Josh Chernov

President, B.Sc, R.B. Tech

Trained as a biologist, Josh has been involved in marine surveying and ROV operations since 2002. Has over 500 hours diving with a WCB SCUBA certificate, and over 5000 hours piloting experience operating many different observation class and work class ROVs.

Prior to Ocean Dynamics Inc. (ODI), he spent five years working with Triton Logging as the chief pilot, was instrumental in the development of new underwater technology and was the lead in the creation of an underwater harvesters training program. Josh was also heavily involved in leading harvesting operations in reservoirs located in British Columbia and Malaysia.

Since that time, Josh has expanded his interested into ocean exploration and marine surveying. He is currently owner and President of ODI. ODI contracts to a variety of clients who are in need of marine habitat surveys, scientific video documentation, outfall/cable inspection and construction support, power and communications cable pre-lay, post-lay inspection, search and recovery, cabled observatory experiment installation and maintenance, underwater archaeology and general ocean exploration.

Josh and his team of engineers have worked extensively offshore with a variety of deep water ROV platforms. ODI is currently the ROV Operations Manager at Dr. Robert Ballard’s Ocean Exploration Trust (OET), leading ROV operations for OET around the globe. ODI has seamlessly integrated into OET maintaining ROVs Hercules, Little Herc, Argus and Atlanta. ODI has also taken the lead project management role in many projects for OET and has been integral in the development of OET’s Mobile ROV System.

Project Roles – Project manager, ROV supervisor, ROV pilot, navigator, vessel skipper and general operations supervisor.
